Former museum exhibit and oldest automobile ever imported to Bulgaria, a 1925 Jowett, won the first prize at a retroparade for classic cars in Bourgas on July 12.

The owner of the vintage car is a member of the Bourgas Retro auto-moto club, who bought it in an online auction. In addition to being 83 years old, the unique vehicle has the distinction to have been among the exhibits in the British museum for retro automobiles.

Think and Drive, an appeal for safe and sensible driving, was the motto of the retroparade, which brought together the exhibits of around 60 vintage vehicle collectors competing for the first prize.

Among the attractions for veteran collectors and interested dilettantes were a 1949 Triumph, a 1938 Mercedes, a 1955 Austin, a Volkswagen "bug", and a hot-rod Mercedes 220 S, all in excellent condition.

An interesting point, though hardly fitting in with the antique atmosphere, was a sports Jaguar XJ220, exhibited for the first time and having only 220 copies around the world. The priceless Jaguar can go up to 355km an hour and is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as one of the ten best car models ever produced.

Vintage motorcycles were not far behind the automobile collections but kept up with equally attractive exhibits. Among the ten unique motorcycles displayed were a 1921 Harley Davidson and a 1956 Java.
