STATE OF EMERGENCY IN FOUR SETTLEMENTS IN BULGARIA STILL IN FORCE

The declared state of emergency in the villages of Nisovo, Pisanets, Ezerche and the town of Tsar Kaloyan is still in force.

The settlements were flooded after downpours in the beginning of August 2007. Eight people drowned in Tsar Kaloyan.

Teams of National Service Civil Protection from Veliko Turnovo, Razgrad, Montana and Rousse and the Defence Ministry are still cleaning and repairing the area.

The teams are cleaning the animal carcasses and are disinfecting the flooded houses and yards.

Local municipalities’ experts are evaluating the damages of the floods.

Electricity supply in Tsar Kaloyan and water supply in Ezerche were restored, Focus news agency reported. Water in Tsar Kaloyan was still undrinkable.
