SPA TOURISM IN BULGARIA ADVERTISED DURING SCANDINAVIAN TRAVEL EXPO
14:08 Fri 13 Apr 2007

An advertising campaing concerning the spa tourism opportunities in Bulgaria will be carried out in Norway, Sweden and Finland in May.

Bulgaria has 12 specialised spa centres that can offer quality tourism services, Deputy Health Minister Matei Mateev said.

Mateev said that Bulgaria was considering the development of medical tourism. The country had the needed hospitals and specialists to attract West European patients. Agreements with West European countries were needed to develop the option, he said.

Bulgaria’s EU accession also changed the regulations under which Bulgarian medics working in tourism sites treated foreign tourists in the resorts.

Hotel owners will also be required to provide information concerning healthcare for EU citizens and the places where foreigners could receive medical aid.
