The last sea water tests’ results proved that the southern beach of the coastal city of Varna was suitable for tourists, Varna regional inspectorate of protection and control of the public health representative Bozhanka Georgieva said.
The samples taken on August 24 2007 proved that the beach was of no danger for the tourists’ health, and that they can enter the water, Georgieva said as quoted by Focus news agency.
Still, regional governor Petur Kandilarov was the one to decide whether the beach will be opened.
Kandilarov said that he would order the beach to be opened again right after he receives the protocols needed from the inspectorate of protection and control of the public health.
On August 23 2007, the Varna municipality was forced to close the south beach in the town as the sea water is extremely dirty. An old purification system was the main reason for the pollution.
