According to Union of Democratic Forces (SDS) leader Plamen Yuroukov the quality of public transport would have to rise, before traffic problems in Sofia could be solved, Bulgarian News Agency BTA reported.
According to Yuroukov investments in public transport that were necessary to deal with traffic, would amount to half the money needed for the upkeep and improvement of infrastructure.
Yuroukov said he thought Sofia was in a crisis. He noted it was necessary to prepare a programme to run the city in crisis and that the Union of Democratic Forces was ready to help mayor Boiko Borissov with this. Yuroukov said he would send Borissov on November 27 or 28 the Union of Democratic Forces' programme on how to deal with Sofia's traffic problems.
Yuroukov thought that the moment the problem with public transport would be solved, everything would become much easier, BTA said.
