Bulgaria’s capital of Sofia will host a round of the snowboard World Cup.

The event, NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup Sofia 2007, will be held at Alexander Batenberg Square on December 22 2007, Focus news agency reported.

A special metal facility, 30m high, will be installed for the snowboarders. The installation will be covered with 100 cu m of artificial snow.

Tseko Minev, head of Bulgarian ski federation, said that “we are happy that a round in the competition for the World Cup of the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS), will be held in Bulgaria for the first time since 1984.”

At least 20 000 people were expected to come for the snow show in December to Sofia, he said
