The biggest Sofia jazz festival will take place in March and April. This year, the festival will be graced by artists from the American and European jazz scene - true legends, reformers and conceptual artists in the sphere of jazz.

PETER ERSKINE
One of the highlights in the SOFIA JAZZ PEAK 2006 programme is American drummer Peter Erskine.
Born in Somers Point, New Jersey, US, he began playing the drums at the age of four. He has worked with Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Pat Matheny, Jan Garbarek and others Peter Erskine has won the Modern Drummer Magazine readers’ prize seven times in the jazz drummer category and was honoured with doctorate degree in music by Berklee College of Music.
MICHEL LEGRAND
The legend of the French scene – the virtuoso jazz and classical pianist, film score composer and conductor, Michel Legrand will present a big concert in NDK’s Hall 1.
He has composed the music for more than 200 films and has produced more than 100 albums. He has won three Oscars, five Grammy music awards, and one Emmy nomination.
He has worked with Moris chevalier, Miles Davis, Edith Piaf, Johnny Mathis, Stan Getz, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Arturo Sandoval and many others.
MASIO PARKER
His name has become synonymous with funk music.
At the beginning of his career he played with the legendary James Brown as leader of his brass section. He has also worked with Ray Charles, Keith Richards, Dave Matthews’ band, Prince and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
MEZZOFORTE
Mezzoforte is one of the most successful European funk-fusion formations.
Their big career break came in 1983 when they broke the UK charts with their big hit Garden Party. Soon after, the rest of the world was also charmed by the music of the men from Iceland.
