Although most of Sofia's residents are away taking advantage of the May 1-6 holiday break, making traffic in the Bulgarian capital significantly less congested, but not easy at all.
The May 6 parade, dedicated to the Bravery and Bulgarian Army Day blocked the centre of the city on the very day on which most Sofians plan to return to the city.
The majority of streets closed between Knyaz Alexander Dondukov, Vassil Levski and Tsar Osvoboditel boulevards, as well as Georgi Rakovski and the entire Moskovska streets are closed for vehicles from 7am until 12.30pm on May 6. Part of Milin Kamuk street between St Naum and James Bourchier boulevards in Lozenets neighbourgood will be closed between 11am and 2.30 pm.
Parking will be banned between 7am and 1pm on Nikolai Gyaurov, northertn part of St Alexander Nevski and Alexander I squares and Moskovska street.
In addition to these temporary restrictions on traffic, ongoing street repair works in the city centre are scheduled to resume after a one-day break on May 6, according to the website of the Sofia city hall. The repairs will be renewed at 7am on May 7, when the area between Georgi Rakovski, Ivan Vazov and Graf Ignatiev streets and Vassil Levski boulevard, including Ivan Vazov street itself, will be closed down.
As May 6 is the last day in a row of holidays, busy traffic and traffic jams are expected in the end of the day at all entrances of the city.
