As of August 18, Sofia citizens can start paying their heating bills that contain the actual consumption for the past 12 months. Toplofikatsiya Sofia, the heating utility, issues monthly bills based on its calculations, billing the actual amount only after heating meters have been checked for readings during the summer months.

There is no deadline for paying the amounts owed either by customers to the heating utility, the company said in a media statement. In cases where customers are owed money by the company, the amount will be deducted from future bills or they can receive their money back in cash by visiting a Toplofikatsiya customer service office upon presenting their identification documents.

Customers that want to dispute the amount they have been billed have to do so within 30 days. People who were at home during scheduled power meter reading visits and had their bills calculated to maximum estimated heating consumed also have contact the company’s offices within 30 days. After this period, the companies that are in charge of reading the power meters will pass the information to Toplofikatsiya Sofia.
