The Sofia municipal council was expected to decide in its July 24 meeting on the merger of municipal companies Tramkar and Sofia Elektrotransport, Zagrada.bg reported on July 16.
The proposal had been submitted by the committee for restructuring of municipal companies.
Committee chairman Danail Kirilov planned to have a draft for the merger within one month after the decision, Zagrada.bg said.
Sofia Elektrotransport would provide land and buildings to house Tramkar repair activities. Land currently owned by Tramkar in the Tsar Boris III area in the centre of Sofia would be sold. The proceeds of the sale would be put towards the purchase of new cars for public transport, Zagrada.bg said.
The municipal council would accept initial tender prices for the property, which was expected to be floated around the beginning of the new year.
With 50 000 sq m, this would be the second large plot of land in this part of Bulgaria's capital to be sold off in little over a year. The new owners of the former state owned electric truck company were currently building a business centre, Zagrada.bg said.
