On October 15, Sofia city hall said that it would hold a public procurement tender on October 23 to choose a company that would build a new bicycle lane in Sofia. The new lane, 6.1km long and linking Macedonia square to Knyazhevo district via Tsar Boris III Boulevard to Knyazhevo district, is planned for the green area near the boulevard and would be built together with a walking path, the city hall said.

On September 5, the city began construction of the first bicycle lane along Evlogi Georgiev Boulevard. It is due to be completed by December 5, replacing an old walking path. Currently, half of it on the western bank of Perlovska River has been completed. It is made of pavement slabs and is also combined with a walking path, and the two lanes are divided only by different types of slabs. The whole bicycle lane will be 3.7km long and 2m wide, the city said.

The bicycle lane along Evlogi Georgiev Boulevard is an element of the complete bicycle lanes scheme of Sofia, the city said. Its construction also started under a public procurement tender and after municipality allocated 1.7 million leva for the project.
