A leading world consultant Paul Mathews prepared the project for restoration of Bulgaria’s Bansko resort ski runs and the surrounding areas, the company concessionaire of the resort, Ulen, said.

Mathews’s company Ecosign prepared the projects of more than 140 ski resorts worldwide, including the winter Olympic games’ hosts in 2010 and 2014, Canadian Vancouver and Russian Sochi, Focus news agency reported.

In the first half of 2007 Ulen invested four million leva in sustainable and nature-friendly development at the resort.

Ulen said that the restoration programmes are co-ordinated with leading specialists from the Environment and Water Affairs Ministry and the National Park Pirin.

Bansko will host competitions of the Women’s Alpine skiing European Cup in 2007 and will start hosting competitions for men in 2008, Focus said.
