SNOWFALL CAUSES ROAD ACCIDENTS IN BULGARIA’S CAPITAL

At least three traffic accidents happened in Sofia per minute on the morning of February 27 because of the unexpected snowfall.

The number of accidents reached 45. No passengers were harmed. Police warned drivers to avoid high speeds.

Road traffic is not hindered because of the snowfall, Focus news agency reported.

Snowfall is intense in the Gotse Delchev region. Temperatures remain above zero degrees Celsius.

Bansko winter resort is experiencing slight snowfall. Because of the fresh coverage the avalanche threat increased, mountain rescue service said.

Tourists are warned to make use only of the tracks and the marked skiing areas. The snow coverage in Bansko reached 70cm.

All tracks and facilities in Borovets winter resorts function properly.  Avalanche danger exists in the Markoudzhik region.

The temperature in Borovets winter resort reached -1 degree Celsius and the weather is cloudy. The snow coverage is 70cm, as well.
