Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) confirmed the punishment of Bourgas prosecutor Ivan Stanev, who made what was called a technical mistake in the indictment against double world champion in figure skating Maxim Staviiski.
In August 2007, Staviiski caused a car crash in which one person died and a girl is still in coma.
In the first indictment Stanev accused Staviiski only of causing severe physical harm.
The administrative order for Stanev’s punishment, which Bourgas regional prosecutor Angel Angelov sent to the SJC, contained a similar technical mistake, Focus news agency said.
SJC members considered whether to abolish Stanev’s punishment motion because of the inaccuracy in the documents.
The SJC confirmed Stanev’s punishment with 17 votes in favour, seven against and two abstained.
