The Bulgarian Cabinet has decided to send up to six men from the Bulgarian army to take part in the operation of the Nato stabilising forces in Kosovo for the length of the operation.

The Bulgarians would join the new structure for military-civil co-operation in the NATO Kosovo Force headquarters, a press statement from the Council of Ministers said.

The aim of the new structure is to provide consultation support to and help improve the local security authorities, as well as controlling the disbandment of the Kosovo Protection Corp.

The structure will also help the local authorities recruit, select and vet personnel, structure their forces and produce models for the development of cadres, education plans, and command and control.

Nato will establish a training group to take care of the practical training of Kosovo security forces.

Bulgaria’s participation in the new structure was a real contribution to the efforts of the international community to ensure conditions that enabled Kosovo institutions to guarantee the irreversibility of the processes of creating a multiethnic and democratic Kosovo, the statement read.
