The names of potential Economy and Energy Ministers have already been presented after Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev accepted the resignation of Roumen Ovcharov.
Ovcharov resigned after his name was mentioned in connection to a corruption scheme, Novinar newspaper reported. Prosecution investigation found insufficient evidence of Ovcharov’s involvement but he decided to leave office nevertheless.
According to Novinar, the candidates for the position could be taken down to six.
Among the potential ministers are MPs Petar Dimitrov, Petar Kunev, Dimitar Goushterov and Ivan Grizanov. Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) can name two other candidates, despite the fact that the minister should come from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) according to coalition agreement.
Deputy Economy Minister Yordan Dimov featured as a candidate previously. According to media Dimov was the selection of Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev.
