Six companies were fined for illegal construction in the Bansko winter resort, Bansko mayor Alexander Kravarov said.

Prosecution checked 460 construction sites and discovered violations in six of the sites, he said as quoted by Focus news agency.

Unlike in 2006, when there was a hotel construction boom, in 2007, mostly apartments were built in Bansko, according to Kravarov.

Construction in the municipality of Bansko will be banned from December 1, to provide the tourists with a tranquil vacation.

“Every year we stop the construction around active hotels when the tourist season begins,” Kravarov said. We allow construction in the zones, where the work would not bother tourists, he said.
