Serbian authorities reported October 24 that they had seized more than 160 kg of heroin, International Herald Tribune (IHT) reported.
It represented one of the biggest drug seizures in the region in years.
The drugs had been discovered in a truck with Turkish registration plates, which entered Serbia from Bulgaria, the customs officers said.
They estimated the street value of the heroin at 5 million euro.
The Balkans is a key route for smuggling of heroin and other drugs to Western Europe, IHT said.
