The senate of Poland ratified Bulgaria and Romania's EU accession treaty during its March 30 session.
Out of the 100 senate members, 71 voted in favour of the treaty, Focus news agency reported. The parliamentary procedure ends with the vote, after which the treaty needs to get the approval of Poland's president.
The overall ratification procedure is expected to end in the coming days.
Preliminary senate discussions took place on March 29. All senate member speeches expressed positive attitude toward Bulgaria and Romania's EU membership.
The ratification procedure in Poland started with a delay, caused by political changes in the country. Presidential elections occurred in the autumn, as well as the formation of a new government.
In Poland the procedure started on March 10 2006. The senate had one month to complete it.
