Two police officers in Pleven have taken their own lives in two days.

Both were from the second regional police directorate in Pleven. The suicides were announced in a statement by the directorate.

On January 27, 38 year-old Kaloyan Bonev shot himself in his apartment.
Paramedics who came to the scene found that he was already dead.

Bonev's wife had called the police a little after midnight, mediapool.bg said.

Bonev had worked at the second regional police directorate for 13 years.

Two days before, 47 year-old Simeon Yordanov from the same directorate committed suicide at home, using his own Makarov pistol. He was taken to hospital in Pleven and underwent surgery, but died later that day. His funeral was on January 27.

It is not known whether the two cases are related.
