The format for the day will be 18 holes of golf, playing Texas Scramble, using Stableford scoring.
Each team will consist of four players.
All four players will take their drive from the tee and the team will then select the best drive and all four players will move their individual ball and play it from the point at where the best drive lies. This will happen with all subsequent shots, including putts, until the ball is putted out.
The best individual score on the hole will count as the team score.
At least two drives from all four players must be used during the course of the round.
The team will be allocated a joint handicap based on their own individual handicaps.
All teams are to have at least one player with a BGA recognised golf handicap.
Tee off times will be either morning or afternoon depending on the team’s preference.
The cost of the competition will be 200 leva a team (50 leva a person), which will include a plate barbeque food, a glass of beer/wine. The fee will be payable on registration. No pay - no play!
There will be prizes for the winners, and prize winners will be expected to personally collect them at the prize giving during the early evening. In the event that prize winners have left, then they will be handed out to second, third etc.
The emphasis should be on having some fun for the day, and hopefully with some entertainment, at the Club, in the evening too!
Training shoes will be allowed as a one-off because this is a charity event.
Entries should be made by e-mail (a.rogut@stsofiagolf.com and carl2450@hotmail.com).
Most of the golfing fraternity will remember the One Life first annual golf day last year. On that occasion nearly 10 000 leva was raised to be used for reparing and improving the conditions for children and infants at the Professor Ivan Kirov Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Sofia. Certificates and a well deserved round of applause were given to sponsors by the secretary and the chairperson of One Life Bulgaria.
The One Life charity attempts to brighten the lives of children who have debilitating diseases, which are sometimes life threatening. The charity is currently focusing its efforts on the Children’s Ward of the Infectious Diseases hospital.
To date, the organisation has renovated one of the children’s wards and still has one more to do. In addition, they have repaired the roof and have provided new mattresses and bedding for the children.
One Life is constantly striving to achieve its goal of brightening the lives of those children who have to endure suffering and, through the efforts of its volunteer committee, together with the generosity of the local, expatriate, corporate and diplomatic communities, the organisation is making progress.
