More that the half of the 503 km of second and third class roads in 21 regions in Bulgaria will undergo complete rehabilitation in 2008, National Road Infrastructure Fund deputy chair Hasan Hasan said.

The rehabilitation of the roads would cost 208 million leva, investor.bg reported. The funding was provided through the Operational Programme Regional Development.

The roads to be rehabilitated were between four and 70 km long. The longest period needed to complete rehabilitation of a single road would be 24 months. National Road Infrastructure Fund had already selected the companies to execute the rehabilitation works.

The preparation of the technical projects for the rehabilitation of another 340km of second and third class roads had already been assigned to contractors, Hasan said.

National Road Infrastructure Fund was ready to utilise all the 501 million leva for road rehabilitation, provided by the operational programme.
