It could be that Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov will soon be on a plane to Sacramento, California, to visit state governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Los Angeles County board of supervisors member Zev Yaroslavsky extended the invitation on behalf of Schwarzenegger while on official business in Bulgaria, according to what Maxim Behar of M3 Communications Group said to Bulgarian news agency BTA on July 13.
Schwarzenegger also extended special greetings to Borissov, Behar said.
Austria-born Schwarzenegger and Bankya-born Borissov have often drawn comparisons for their macho physique and love of the limelight. With Borissov's history as personal bodyguard to communist leader Todor Zhivkov and, later, as Interior Ministry chief secretary, his CV is perhaps not as clean as film actor Schwarzenegger's, though the latter has also been involved in not-so-lawful business deals (namely with the Weider division of American Media in 2005) – but the governor of California came clean and ended the business relationship.
