Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Bulgaria and Greece to reach an agreement for the setting up of the Bourgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline as soon as possible.
Putin said as quoted by Bulgarian National Radio that Russia supported the project and had already prepared its offers regarding the pipeline.
If Bulgarian and Russian partners failed reaching an agreement soon, Russia would be forced to increase its transit of natural gas through the territory of other countries, he said.
European Union (EU) should be interested in the project since Bulgaria and Greece were EU members, Putin said. Yet the EU kept on delaying the project, said he.
In case the project was never executed Bulgaria and Greece would lose the chance to become transit countries of Russian natural resources, said Putin.
