RUSSIAN OIL COMPANY REPORTEDLY INVESTS IN BIO-FUEL PRODUCTION IN BULGARIA
16:00 Sat 21 Apr 2007

Russian oil company Lukoil reportedly installed production facilities for obtaining bio-fuel in its refinery Neftochim in the coastal city of Bourgas.

Four month ago the company installed the needed bio-fuel equipment in all oil stations in the country, Russian RBC daily reported as quoted by netinfo.bg.

Companies working within the sector think that the interest of oil companies in eco raw materials could lead to fundamental changes in the sector, the report said.

Lukoil did not comment on the information for the construction of bio-fuel facilities. Lukoil representatives said that they have discussed possibilities for investment in bio-fuel production but have never announced specific details on the volume of investment and production.

Lukoil has over 2500 oil stations in Europe, the largest number of which are located in Bulgaria.
More than two per cent of the current diesel production in the European Union (EU) is now replaced by bio-diesel.
