The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), one of the three political formations in Bulgaria's ruling coalition, would try to carry out an inexpensive campaign for the upcoming presidential elections, Novinar newspaper reported.
People in Bulgaria had difficulty accepting large billboard commercials and paid publications, BSP members said.
BSP member Mihail Mikov said that candidates should compete with political ideas rather than with commercials.
Presidential candidates were not selling commodities, Mikov said. As a result commercials should play a minor role, said he.
Next week BSP head and Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev would discuss with BSP's coalition partners, National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), the eventual selection of a common presidential candidate, Novinar reported.
