RULING PARTY IN BULGARIA OFFERS ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL POLICIES UPDATE
09:04 Wed 11 Apr 2007

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will offer to its partners in the ruling tripartite coalition updates of economic and social policies.

During an April 10 session, BSP’s executive council discussed party policies for the coming two years, BSP spokesperson Angel Naidenov said.

BSP discussed ways in which the standard of life could be improved and income levels could become higher. New social and economic policies should focus on standards of living, demographic policies, increasing competitiveness and improving healthcare and education services.

The Cabinet of BSP, National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) already achieved some of its economic goals and should start searching for new priorities, BSP leader and Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said.

BSP carried out a big number of its election promises, Stanishev said.

The topic will be further discussed during the summit of BSP’s supreme council on Saturday April 14. BSP will also discuss its electoral campaign for the upcoming members of European Parliament (MEP) elections.
