Romanian ultra-rightist members of the European Parliament (MEPs) managed to calm down concerns over the creation of a radical-rightist movement.
Such concerns stem mainly from the statements of Bulgarian MEP Dimitar Stoyanov, French newspaper Le Mond said.
Stoyanov, representative of Bulgaria ’s ultra-nationalist movement Ataka, became well-known for his impetuous manners.
The newspaper quoted another Bulgarian MEP, Kristiyan Vigenin, as saying that Stoyanov and Ataka leader Volen Siderov turned the movement into family organisation.
Siderov lives with Stoyanov’s mother, she is press attache, her father is treasurer, while Stoyanov and his girlfriend are in the leads Ataka’s MEP elections voting list, Vigenin said.
Siterov is also known for hsi uncontrolled behaviour, Le Mond said. He called for prohibition of the Turkish minority in the country. In some of his books Siderov said that a Jewish conspiracy against Bulgarians existed.
National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) MEP Antonia Purvanova said that Stoyanov was copying Siderov’s behaviour. When Siderov was making populist and xenophobic statements, Stoyanov offended Hungarian MEP Livia Jaroka.because of her Roma origin.
