The upcoming EU entry of Bulgaria and Romania on January 1 2007 is to further increase the appeal of the two countries as popular travel destinations, Easy Travel website reported.

British travelers increasingly prefer the two countries, as they offer cheaper holiday packages than other European destinations, the report said.

As a result, Bulgaria and Romania appeal to the so-called budget travelers. Apart from offering cheaper services, the two countries feature both winter and summer tourism opportunities, Easy Travel reported.

Another benefit was the rather different type of tourism Bulgaria and Romania offered. Both countries have preserved and developed their unique folklore and rural tourism options.

“Bulgaria is home to nine UNESCO world heritage sites. And the ski resorts can offer much better value for money for beginner and intermediate skiers than France and Austria,” the report said.
