Bulgaria has chances to fully integrate its Roma citizens within society, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said.
Stanishev took part in a discussion on Bulgaria's policy concerning Roma, which finished on April 16 in the National Palace of Culture.
Integration of Roma has to start from kindergartens and schools since all efforts concerning employment of Roma people and fight against crime begin namely there, Stanishev said.
Bulgaria’s unique model of ethnic tolerance should be kept and developed including the integration of Roma people, Stanishev said.
By doing nothing for the integration of this ethnic minority group, the government will fail to prevent the sharp social crisis to appear as result of the natural increase of Roma population, Stanishev said.
The national discussion on the country's policy concerning the Roma minority was supported by Parliament speaker Georgi Pirinski.
