Representatives of Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) had tough time deciding to support constitution amendments, UDF leader Petar Stoyanov said.
On February 2 National Assembly approved on third reading the fourth set of constitution amendments in Bulgaria.
Some of the amendments were in the best interest of Bulgarians, Stoyanov said, so UDF decided to vote in favour. It had to decide between the interest of people and demonstrating opposition behaviour.
UDF favoured nearly half of the amendments, said Stoyanov. Some of the items featuring in the set of amendments, like limited political immunity for magistrates and officials, were UDF's idea, said he.
Stoyanov said that UDF opposed the creation of an inspectorate supervising the work of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The manner in which the inspectorate was to be set up was going to hinder it from carrying out its functions.
