Right wing opposition party Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) was going to support the draft constitution amendments needed for Bulgaria's EU entry on January 1 2007, DSB representative Ekaterina Mihailova said.
DSB was going to support the project, as it featured number of changes that the party suggested long ago, Mihailova said as quoted by Focus news agency.
Some of the changes that needed to be enforced were decentralisation of municipal authorities and the removal of magistrate immunity, said Mihailova.
Mihailova said that the ruling tripartite coalition took a correct decision to remove dubious texts introduced to the constitution after it was amended for the third time.
The European Commission suggested changes to the constitution guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary and increasing transparency in its work.
