The leaders of two Bulgarian right-wing parties, Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) and Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB), Petar Stoyanov and Tsvetan Tsvetanov will take part in the congress of the French Union for a Popular Movement (UMP).
The conservative party is expected to nominate its leader Nicolas Sarkozy for the upcoming presidential elections.
Stoyanov would be a special guest of Sarkozy, Focus news agency reported. His official nomination will take place on January 14 2007, during the congress.
Focus reported that Stoyanov previously met parliamentary state secretary at the German interior ministry Peter Altmaier on January 12 2007. Altmaier was Christian Democratic Union (CDU) member and member of the European Parliament (MEP).
Stoyanov and Altmaier discussed the German EU presidency, fight against organised crime and corruption and elections for MEPs in Bulgaria.
Co-operation between UDF and CDU also featured among discussion topics, Focus said. By the end of May 2007 the two parties will organise a seminar, dedicated to the fight against organised crime in the context of Bulgaria's EU entry.
