RETURN OF BULGARIAN MEDICS DOMINATES HEADLINES IN FRANCE
13:02 Wed 25 Jul 2007

The contribution of the French president’s family to facilitating the return of Bulgarian medics to their homeland is the leading topic in French media today, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.

“Happy Ending in Libya” is the title of the leading editorial piece the Paris paper “Le Monde.”

The article emphasizes that Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Cecilia Sarkozy as well as all of the other participants in the process of liberating the Bulgarian medics should receive congratulations for their efforts.

“Le Figaro” calls Sarkozy a diplomatic innovator whose wife made a much stronger player than any ordinary minister.

“L'Humanité” concludes that in the context of a very hard negotiation process, Sarkozy took a great risk by sending his spouse to make political negotiations in Tripoli.

Gaddafi is the great winner in the case of the Bulgarian nurses, says “La Tribune,” quoting the German MEP Daniel Cohn-Bendit.

Another article in the paper describes the meddling of the French presidential couple, and concludes that the participation of Cecilia Sarkozy marks the defeat of the French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner.
