The leadership of Sofia’s Winter Olympics host initiative committee needs to be changed for a successful application, head of the state youth and sport agency Vessela Lecheva said.
Various people should resign, so that Bulgaria’s candidacy has any realistic chance, said Lecheva.
Currently people, who fail to appear trustworthy guide the initiative committee, said Lecheva.
The state should also support the initiative, but the sport agency has little information on the manner in which funds are spent by the initiative committee, said Lecheva.
Nearly 500 000 leva have been spent until now, the Bulgarian National Radio reported. For Bulgaria’s application to be competitive, state institutions needs to invest additional 10 to 12 million leva, said Lecheva.
Hosting Olympic games will be an incredible chance for Bulgaria, but local institutions should consider specific steps to produce the needed developments, Lecheva said.
