The European Commission (EC) announced the end of the ratification process of Bulgaria and Romania's EU accession treaty.
Germany ratified the document of November 24 2006, putting an end of the process. Germany was the last obstacle to the two countries' EU accession, Agence France-Presse reported.
The parliaments of the other 24 EU members and the two candidate members had already ratified the treaty.
EC acclaimed Germany's decision, Agence France-Presse said.
European Union (EU) Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said that he welcomed the German Bundesrat's decision for the ratification. Rehn welcomed Bulgaria and Romania to the EU.
Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Daniel Vulchev was present at the Bundesrat session.
