Judge Lyubomir Krastev, head of Pleven’s regional court, may be suspended on disciplinary charges after a proposal by Bulgarian Minister of Justice Miglena Tacheva.
The proposal has already been submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council, reported Focus news agency.
The possible suspension comes after Minister Tacheva requested the inspectorate to the ministry to check a case involving an incident of drunk driving on August 5 2007.
At the time, Judge Krastev was caught driving under the influence of alcohol. The judge argued with police officers and refused to be tested for alcohol.
The check found that Lyubomir Krastev had violated the rules for professional ethics of judges and had failed to uphold the proper image for a member of the judicial institution.
