A record 4807 new vehicles were sold in June 2007, according to Bulgarian union of vehicle importers data.
A total of 4491 of the total number of vehicles were cars, given that most of the deals were made in Sofia, Dnevnik daily reported.
The new vehicle market grew by slightly more than 26 per cent in the first half of 2007. Sales of cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles went up.
The most significant sales growth was of new freight vehicles. Traders sold 1249 trucks in the period from January to June compared to 709 in 2006, a 76 per cent increase.
The number of cars sold was 23 615 in 2007 compared to 18 992 in 2006.
Compact city cars were the most preferred. Dacia Logan is most demanded model with 1500 sales in the first six months of 2007.
One of the major problems which sector representatives face is the increasing usage of old vehicles. The number of old vehicles doubled in the first six months of 2007, exceeding 130 000.
