PUBLIC TRANSPORT STRIKE TO FOUL TRAFFIC IN BULGARIA'S CAPITAL
13:37 Tue 08 May 2007

Public transport drivers in Sofia will start a strike on May 15.

The strike will be open-ended and could cause traffic chaos in the capital, investor.bg reported.
Bus drivers, motormen and trolley drivers will join the strike, which starts from 12am on May 15.

Only 250 public transport vehicles out of 1000 will continue operating.

The protest will carry on until the demands of the drivers have been met.

The drivers are demanding a clear decision on salary payment regulations concerning companies with state ownership exceeding 50 per cent.

Salaries in loss-making companies are currently frozen.
