11:49 Wed 20 Jun 2007

Sofia's deputy mayor Velizar Stoilov said that public transport improved in 2007 compared to 2006 and is sufficiently better organised.

Stoilov commented on citizen complaints concerning the bad quality of services provided by Sofia's public transport, Focus news agency reported.

Consumer protection committee received complaints that public transport vehicles failed to keep up to their schedule, others were complaining of the bad conditions in the buses, trolleys and trams.

Public transport's GPS system regularly monitors delays which are less then 20 per cent, Stoilov said.

Consumer protection committee organised two work meetings with Sofia public transport company, road police representatives and Sofia municipality. Meeting participants discussed co-operation opportunities for improving the quality of public transport services.
