Tseko Yordanov and Angel Iliev, prosecutors from the Supreme Prosecution of Cassation, refused to submit their resignations in relation to accusations of delayed and concealed court procedures.
Prosecutor-General Boris Velchev gave the magistrates a deadline for submitting resignations until Monday, Novinar newspaper reported. Both refused to leave their positions voluntarily.
Iliev and Yordanov said that they presented reports on the reasons for the delays in each trial. Former prosecutor-general Nikola Filchev failed reviewing the motivation in time, Yordanov said.
Yordanov said he was not going to resign and would defend himself in case Borisov launched court investigation of the issues.
According to the two prosecutors former prosecutor-general Filchev was pressured by former president Petar Stoyanov and other high-level officials to slow down court procedures.
