PROPERTY FOCUS: Sofia Airport Center officially presented
09:00 Mon 26 Mar 2007 - Yana Moyseeva

Sofia Airport Center, the biggest project in the Bulgarian property sphere, was officially presented at the international expo MIPIM. The event, which was hosted by Tishman International, the investors in the centre, Cushman and Wakefield, and Forton International, took place March 13 to 16 in Cannes and gathered managers of major international companies.

“I am happy to present you our first major project in Bulgaria – Sofia Airport Center,” said Alan Levi, CEO of Tishman International. “During the past few years, Bulgaria has become more and more popular for international companies. With its fast-developing economy and its EU membership, Bulgaria was logically selected by Tishman as the most suitable location for the construction of a massive class A office park and logistics centre.”

The project includes the construction of a luxury hotel next to the airport. Thus, Levi said, the region will turn into a dynamic business area, which will give a totally new look to the capital.

Sofia Airport Center will be the first international business park in Bulgaria. The work atmosphere will be co-ordinated with all international standards. The implementation plan includes construction in three levels – the building of 100 000 sq m of class A offices, 22 000 sq m in class A logistics bases and industrial areas, and a luxury hotel with potential for leisure and conference activities. The actual gross area will be 165 000 sq m. The centre will be located at about 300m from the new terminal. It will be managed by Tishman Management Company, part of the Tishman International Companies, one of the biggest US investors in Bulgaria, and the only one so far in the property sphere.

Some of the companies that will be involved in the planning and construction of the centre include Cigler Marani Architects (responsible for the architectural planning) and Gardiner & Theobald (responsible for the budget). Forton International and Cushman Wakefield will be responsible for the centre’s lettings and sales, while M3 Communications Group will be the communications partner.
