The government should focus more efforts on advertising Bulgaria, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said.
Stanishev answered questions concerning government policy on the use of foreign lobby and consultancy companies at the parliamentary control during the February 16, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
Bulgaria should not hide its problems but it had to popularise its achievements as well, Stanishev said.
The government has to search opportunities for cooperation with the leading companies in the sphere of lobbying and advertising. This business already has stable positions and clear rules all over the world, Stanishev said.
One of the problems that Bulgaria faced during its preparation for the EU accession was namely the adequate use of various advertising tools, Stanishev said.
As Bulgaria is already part of the EU the country can not count on the interest of foreign investors that preceded its EU entry.
Government decisions have to be widely presented in foreign media so that the needed results for the business and the public opinion could be obtained, Stanishev said.
