Private kindgarten, schools start enrolment with exhibition

In the exhibition Private School 2008, 41 private kindergartens, schools and colleges presented their 2008/2009 study program to future schoolchildren, students and their parents.

The Bulgarian Association of Private Schools organised the exhibition on March 21 and 22 in Grand Hotel Sofia, marking the start of the enrolment campaign for the private kindergartens, schools and colleges, which have all been accredited by the Education Ministry.

Enrolment for public kindergartens started in early February with the disastrous launch of the Sofia municipal kindergarten enrolment website, when more than 10 000 parents tried to enrol 3000 children for 627 available places for 2008, all at the same time.

Sofia City Hall expects 3000 additional places to become available in public schools over the next three years, while it plans to construct 44 kindergartens by 2013. Until then, private kindergartens and schools are for some parents the only way to get their children into education.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 6pm, entrance is free.
