PRICES AT BULGARIA’S BLACK SEA DROP 20 PER CENT
11:48 Thu 30 Aug 2007

The price for a hotel room at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast has dropped by an average of 20 per cent.

Chairman of the National Hospitality Management Club Iliyan Ivanov said that this was nothing new.

It is a normal change for prices at the seaside to register large decreases as of early September, he said, as quoted by Focus news agency.

At this time in the year, hotels in the area try to attract tourists by advertising lower prices on their rooms.

In 2007, mid-October is expected to be the end of the tourist season at the Black Sea.

Though the summer is over, tour operators will continue booking holidays. Hotels particularly try to attract elderly people at this point in the season, Ivanov said.

Traditionally, the Bulgarian seaside attracts less wealthy tourists. This is especially valid for the resorts of Golden Sands, Sunny Beach and Albena, Ivanov said.

Well-off people focus on tours around Bulgaria.

The average revenue from a tourist has decreased in recent years, and would continue going down, Ivanov said. For 2005 it was 400 euro, 2006, 387 euro and it will be less in 2007.

" The drop is revenue is the only showing that the mafia take bigger part from the revenue. No one from sweden take less than 450 euro a week in pocket money.
