- After livestock breeders, vegetable farmers were ready to launch their own protests, demanding an improved Government policy for the branch, Dnevnik daily said. The decrease in the purchase prices of their production was disastrous, they said.
- The European Commission’s (EC) expert group, assigned to discuss the prospects of unfreezing funding to Bulgarian dairy producers, postponed its decision for next week, Dnevnik said.
- The Cabinet took serious measures against the appointment of relatives in the newly-formed National Road Infrastructure Agency, Sega daily said. The ordinance regulating the agency’s activity reads that employees of the agency and their families could not own shares in companies that have won social procurements or concessions for road construction.
Social
- Thousands of parents were forced to ask for unpaid leave to take care of their offspring because the kindergartens, in which their children were enrolled, were still closed because of summer repairs, Dnevnik said.
- Residents of Sofia’s Souhodol neighbourhood announced that they would seek a way to split administratively from Sofia municipality Sega said. The residents protest against the city hall’s plans to expand the refuse dump in the neighbourhood.
Economy
- The Cabinet changed the status of another 13 Defence Ministry’s properties from public to private state property, Dnevnik said. The properties are to be sold out.
- Property prices at the Black Sea coast were dropping massively, Monitor daily quoted a study by GreenLife investment company. GreenLife executive director Nikolai Pehlivanov was quoted as saying that the properties were attractive to buyers, but not to investors.
