- The rightist parties that are members of the European People’s Party would discuss how to attack the Cabinet and would present their decision on September 22, Sega daily said.
Social
- The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) had given in to most of the requests issued by general practitioners, Dnevnik quoted the national union of general practitioners in Bulgaria as saying. The decision came following two days of negotiations between NHIF and the union.
- More than a billion leva from the budget surplus would be used for social policies, social aid and pension increases, Sega daily wrote.
- The three Bulgarians in Greece, who had been arrested and sentenced for espionage for taking photos of military objects, returned to Bulgaria on August 30, Sega reported. The lawyer of the three said that the entire case was a terrible misunderstanding.
- Bulgarian scientists were close to finding a cure for oncological diseases, Monitor daily wrote. They had discovered that cancer cell growth and division could be blocked using minute diamond particles.
Economy
- Bulgarian environmentalists were preparing to submit yet another claim to the European Commission (EC) against the new zoning plan for Tsarevo municipality, Dnevnik wrote. The plan envisioned construction in Strandja nature park and could not be appealed.
- Residents of Sofia’s Souhodol borough would sue EC representatives for supporting Sofia city hall’s decision to enlarge the refuse site near the neighbourhood, Dnevnik said.
