- The latest rows caused the frozen funding from the European Union and the arrests of high-level policemen for protection of shady companies could lead to changes in the Cabinet, Dnevnik daily said.

Social

- New amendments to Bulgarian laws envision for each airport to have a security area, Novinar daily said. The amendments were necessary to makle Bulgarian legislation conform to EU directives on aviation security, the newspaper said.

- Policemen were involved in TV set smuggling, according to Monitor daily. The TV sets, worth a total 50 400 leva, were stolen from a cargo train in Svilengrad, near the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

Economy

- Business in Bulgaria fears it would have problems in Serbia because Sofia recognised Kosovo's independence, Dnevnik said. Transport and tourism sectors would be the ones affected most, the daily quoted businessmen as saying.

- Bulgartabac chief executive Hristo Lachev would be sued for tax evasion, Sega daily said. Lachev could be sentenced to eight years in prison, if found guilty.

- Property rental prices had risen by four to six percent over the past three months, Sega said. The prices would continue rising by some 10 per cent in the next couple of years.
