- According to the European Commission (EC) Bulgaria does nothing to fix the irregularities pointed out by the Commission, Dnevnik daily said. Bulgaria had received warnings that the EC could cut off the pre-accession funding as early as the end of 2007.
Social
- Romanian policemen would guard the Bulgarian Black Sea resorts together with their Bulgarian counterparts, according to a suggestion made by the Bulgarian Interior Minister Roumen Perkov said, Monitor daily said. The Romanian policemen will patrol at the beaches that have the biggest number of Romanian tourists.
Economy
- Bulgaria’s business disagrees the EU funds distribution to be assigned by a central administration, because it would allow more corruption, Pari daily said.
- Construction in Slunchev Bryag (Sunny Beach) coastal resort and its surroundings would continue at least until mid-May, despite the ban for construction after May 1, Dnevnik said. The newspaper quoted Nessebur mayor Nikolai Dimitrov as saying that the hotel owners demanded an end to construction, but “forget that they also once "constructed".
- The amount of foreign investments in Bulgaria had increased by 37 per cent in 2006, according to final data released by the Bulgarian National Bank, as quoted by Dnevnik. The increase results mainly from investments in the production and procession industry and energy.
