- Farmers across the country are protesting the frozen funding under the European Union pre-accession programme Sapard and delaying of subsidies for pastures and milk production by the Bulgarian Agriculture and Food Ministry, Dnevnik daily reported.

- Former Litex football club president Angel Bonchev had received a short message on his mobile phone where to find his wife, who was kidnapped on July 13, Dnevnik daily reported. A police patrol found the victim around 4am in Sofia’s Kazichene neighbourhood.
Economy
- About 57 per cent of Bulgarians had no savings, Industry Watch research said, as quoted in Monitor newspaper.
- After Commission for Protection of Competition closed four cartels within only a month, the Cabinet would discuss amendments in the law on protection of competition, Dnevnik reported. According to the amendments, the fine for cartel formation would reach 10 per cent from the revenue of the incriminated company for the past year.
- The number of German and UK tourists in the Black Sea coastal resort of Albena continued to decrease, Dnenvik report. In the same time, the number of Bulgarian, Russian and Romanian tourists had increased.
- Electricity distributing company EVN charged 18 hotels and restaurants in the coastal resort of Slunchev Bryag (Sunny Beach) with electricity theft worth 400 000 leva, Sega daily reported.
